SEND at Scargill Infant School
Welcome to our SEND page. We hope you will enjoy reading about the variety of ways in which Scargill Infant School is able to support SEND pupils to reach their full potential.
Our Special Educational Needs co-ordinator is: Mrs A Gillham
Every pupil at Scargill Infants has the opportunity to follow all National Curriculum subjects.
We are committed to narrowing the attainment gap between SEND and non-SEND pupils. We do this through a variety of different provisions which may include school interventions and resources, short-term specific interventions, home-school interventions and other learning interventions developed on an individual needs basis.
What is SEND?
A pupil has SEND when their learning difficulty or disability requires provision that is additional to and different from to what is normally available to pupils of the same age.
In July 2014, the Department for Education (DFE) issued the special educational needs and disability (SEND) Code of Practice 2014. The new code came from on 1st September 2014.
Mrs Gillham has achieved the National Award for Special Educational Needs.
