Remote Learning

Google Classroom

Click here to access Google ClassroomSince March 2020 schools are required to adapt their approach to home learning.
At Scargill Infant School we have set our remote learning through Google Classroom.

Our remote learning plan:

Remote Education Information for Parents Document

Our remote learning plan has been made with our pupils and their families in mind. We believe that this strategy will work best for the children at our school.

  • Home learning including remote teaching will be delivered via the Google Education platform.
  • Learning will be daily and follow the pattern of the normal school week.
  • Each pupil has log in access to the Google platform that has been shared previously.
  • Teaching will be led by the class teacher unless the class teacher is not fit for duty.
  • Interaction with the class teacher and pupil feedback during the period of remote learning will be made through the Google platform.

What you will need at home:

  • A device that can access the internet, such as a laptop, desktop computer, tablet or smartphone.
  • Connection or access to the internet.
  • A quiet space to work (recommended).

What we expect from your child:

  • It is very important that your child engages with home learning. It is an expectation of school that children engage in home learning on a daily basis unless there is a suitable reason not to i.e. they are medically unwell and this has been reported to school.
  • It is also important to keep to the daily timetable in order to avoid gaps in learning that could impact overall progress and attainment.

Our top tips:

  • Try to encourage your child to be ready and dressed for the start of the school day, and to keep to their timetable.
  • Distinguish between weekdays and weekends, and make it clear when the school day is over, to separate home and school life.
  • Plan breaks and exercise into the day to help keep your child active.

If you are using a tablet to access Google Classroom at home, you will need to download the following free Apps.

  • Google Classroom
  • Google Docs
  • Google Slides
  • Jamboard
  • Google Meet
  • Google Sheets

Without the above, you will be denied access to documents that your child needs to support their remote learning.
